On June 22nd, one of San Diego’s new church plants, Doxa, had the opportunity to pour into Sweetwater High School’s football team in National City along with several other local teams. Doxa volunteers were able to feed 200 young men at the football event. By the end of the night, strong relationships were built across the field. Pastor Matt Thibault (a previous college football player for Montana State) had the chance to speak and share his personal testimony on how Jesus captured his heart as a young football player as well.
Sweetwater Union High School has kindly opened its doors to Doxa every Sunday, allowing the new plant to use its auditorium and classrooms for service and kids' Sunday school. Having the opportunity to feed the school’s football team was the least we could do, and we considered it a joy-filled opportunity! Our prayer is that these young men feel loved, cared for, and appreciated. We hope to have many more opportunities to pour into Sweetwater High School!
