I was born in Rocky Mount, North Carolina and raised in Washington D.C. I was drafted into the Army in 1970 where I served two years. I moved to San Diego in 1980. I united with the Encanto Southern Baptist Church where I’ve served since 1981. I have served in various capacities at Encanto, Sunday school teacher, Deacon, Deacon Chairman, Associate minister, Assistant Pastor, Co-Pastor and currently Senior Pastor.

I have earned Bachelor of Science degrees in both business and management. I have earned a MBA from the University of Phoenix and a MACM degree from Southern California Seminary. I retired from the Federal Government in 2015 after 44 years of service. Additional accomplishments and acknowledgements attained during my career to name a few; Completion of the Naval Operations Corporate Management Development Program, Certified Time Study and Motion Engineer by the University of North Carolina, Certificate in Total Quality management, from University of San Diego and San Diego State University, Certificate of Excellence Leadership Award from President William Jefferson Clinton, Team Excellence Award from San Diego State University, and the highest awarded Civilian award, the Department of the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award.
